Grant and ESAA Students Celebrate Spirit Days
The students at Grant Elementary School and the Elementary
School for the Arts and Academics (ESAA) recently joined forces to
benefit the community while having fun in the process.
Each day of the week had a designated theme and
corresponding community focus. Monday was Pajama/Stuffed Animal Day -
students brought in pet food that was donated to the Humane Society.
Tuesday saw students sporting crazy hair and donating hygiene products
to a local shelter. Poodle Skirts and 50's garb and socks for a homeless
shelter were Wednesday's theme. On Thursday, everyone wore their
favorite team apparel and brought in healthy foods to donate to a local
food pantry. Friday was Bling and Sparkle Day. The students also participated in a penny war.
The class that collected the most money chose the
charity that would receive the total proceeds from the penny drive.
Elizabeth Marzouki's first and second graders chose to donate the
$333.45 to the Salvation Army.
