The Grant Elementary School staff and students showed some Milwaukee Brewer spirit at their assembly last week. Staff members ran the sausage race, students and staff sang “Take Me Out to the Ballgame," and joined in the National Anthem as it is played in Miller Park during the September 30 baseball game. Students and staff also displayed their team spirit by dressing in their favorite baseball team apparel.

Italian Sausage - Lynn Gravin, 2nd Grade Teacher
Hot Dog - Ed Moberg, 3rd Grade Teacher
Bratwurst - Angela Parks, 2nd Grade Teacher

And the winner is....Bratwurst!
Also at the assembly, teachers Shelley Sorenson (left) and Becky Sewacki introduced the Grant School Reading Incentive for 2011-12 school year. Students are given monthly reading goals. Prizes are awarded each month for students who met their goals. Students will also be entered into the grand prize drawing. The grand prize winner of the reading program will be awarded a gift certificate toward a new bicycle which was donated by Wolf’s Cycle Shop. The goal of the reading incentive program is to encourage students to read at home and to help build a love of reading.
