Grandma June Awarded Wilson Special Friend for Years of Service
Foster Grandma, June Young, received the "Special Friend of Wilson School Award" on October 14 at the annual 4>2  Program.  The 4>2 philosophy encourages students and staff to do things for others rather than to others.  An example might be making good choices about behavior or choosing to do a good job on your homework. Grandma June exemplifies that philosophy with her 23 years of volunteer service to third grade students at Wilson Elementary School.

June said, "This award is very special to me because it comes from the school in recognition of my service." She looks upon her experience as a wonderful form of therapy that has given her a great sense of fulfillment. Reminiscing about her first day at school, June remembers sitting in the back of the class wondering if she could do the job, when a little girl turned around and shyly smiled and waved at her. Grandma June knew then that she was in the right place.
