Wilson Students Carry On Tradition of Planting Trees for Arbor Day
Students at Wilson Elementary School celebrated their annual tree planting event on Arbor Day. For the past forty years, the school has been raising money and planting trees on the school grounds. Over the years a number of different teachers along with their students have organized and sponsored the event until it has now grown into an all school event. You could safely say that the students of Wilson School have planted almost every tree on the school grounds.
At this year’s event, David Kuckuk, Superintendent of Parks and Forestry for the City of Sheboygan and Tim Beaver, Forester with the Department of Natural Resources talked to the students about the importance of trees in their lives and in the lives of birds and animals.
Following the event, one student from each room was chosen to go outside with principal, Mr. Chad Renzelmann, to help plant the tree.
