As part of a wellness initiative, staff members of the Sheboygan Area School District were challenged to exercise and eat healthy for 18 weeks to win the title of ‘Biggest Loser.’ A total of 107 employees completed the 18 week challenge and lost a total of 866.6 pounds and 954.7 inches.
Employees weighed in officially in January and committed to exercising at least 2.5 hours per week, eating healthy and reporting their weight every week. To help motivate the competitors, challenges and recipes were shared weekly.
The top ten employees in the competition were Gwyn Antoine, Anjelica Lara, Pat Juarez, Kelly Brotz, Ann Bunke, Beckah DeYoung, Julie Bruggink, Billy Jones, Tammy Bast, and Scott Klemme.
Schools could also form team and the team with the highest percentage of weight loss won the 1st annual ‘Biggest Loser’ trophy. This year’s winning school was Sheridan Elementary with team members Gwyn Antoine, Pat Juarez, Anjelica Lara and Dawn Brauer. Their team lost 9.9% of their body weight.
The “Biggest Loser” challenge and a variety of other health and wellness initiatives are organized by the SASD Wellness Coordinator, Jeri Dreikosen.
