North High Senior Art Students Create Large Mosaic Piece
The North High School Informational Media Center (IMC) is now displaying a large stained glass mosaic piece created by many of Mrs. Carol Rokicki’s Senior Art 1 students. Students were originally working on individual 12”x12”stained glass mosaic tiles as part of a class assignment. When the 12’x12” mosaic tiles were finished, students were motivated to undertake a larger, group project.
The group project incorporated stained glass pieces from a previous glass window project, that was designed with former art students and artist-in-residence Bob Danner 15 years ago. Using two large wooden boards, students were challenged to take the found pieces and create a striking mosaic piece. Students combined the found pieces with other stained glass pieces to create a unified piece that was sealed with pre-mixed grout. The Sheboygan Area School District carpenter made the frame and the custodians at North High School hung the piece in the IMC for all to see. ![]() Pictured (left to right): Roberta Donohue, Alex Hernandez, Tyler Sommersberger, Alyssa Hobart, Hannah Gustafson, Clarissa Freis, Katie Burgard and Dalton Jones ![]() Sheboygan Area School District Press Release
