Unique Toy Collection Benefits The Salvation Army Day Care
Mrs. Karen Zipperer’s Kindergarten students at Lincoln-Erdman Elementary School demonstrated a special act of kindness this holiday season. Her students gave away a toy of their own to the children of the Salvation Army Day Care located at 1125 North 13th Street. Mrs. Zipperer wanted her students to experience the importance of showing compassion to others. “Little things that we do can make a big difference in the lives of others,” she said. When asked to share what donating their toys meant to them, Sarah stated, “It feels good inside you to help the other kids.” Nicky exclaimed, “I feel really good about giving my toy because it is like sharing.” All of the children were happy that their toys were going to be enjoyed by new friends they may never meet. The children have reminded us all that Christmas is more about giving than receiving.
