Horace Mann Students Capture Chess Tournament Trophies
Horace Mann Middle School chess team members have already won several Single as well as Team trophies in recent tournaments, since the school started a chess club in January 2012. About 20 students are attending the instructional meetings each week, with experienced coaches helping beginning as well as advanced players to improve their chess skills. Students can learn to play chess on a competitive level or just for fun.
Since chess helps students to focus, think ahead, weigh all options, visualize and analyze, participating students not only have fun playing the game, but also improve their academic skill sets and learn for life. ![]() Sheboygan Area School District Press Release
