South High Forensics Team Competes at National Tournament
Five students from the Sheboygan South High School Forensics Team competed at the National Forensic League's Grand National Tournament in Birmingham, Alabama, held from June 16th to June 21st, 2013. Representing South High were seniors Allison Macknick in Dramatic Interpretation and Heath Reinl in Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking, juniors Mackenzie Birkey in Humorous Interpretation and Alyshia de la Rosa in International Extemporaneous Speaking, and freshman Hollis Rammer in Student Congress. To qualify for this tournament, the students had to finish first or second in their respective categories at the Northern Wisconsin district qualifier held at Sheboygan North High School in April.
Each of the students competed over multiple days amongst nearly 3,000 students from across the nation. Of the South High students competing at the tournament, Mackenzie Birkey earned special distinction by advancing to the octofinal rounds and then to the quarterfinal rounds of Humorous Interpretation, placing her amongst the top 30 students in the nation for her category.
