Police Roll Call Held at Cooper Elementary School
On Friday September 20, the Sheboygan Police Department held their morning roll call in Mrs. Kelly Brotz's 2nd grade classroom at Cooper Elementary School. Her students, along with second graders from Mrs. Sarah Lutze's class and first and second graders from Ms. Nancy Opitz's class, were able to see what happens during this daily routine. Students learned how police gather and use data to track problem areas in the city and then police those areas more heavily. The second graders compared this to how the school gathers data for PBIS, our Positive Behavior System, to identify where the school struggles with behavior and then build Cool Tool lessons to help improve behavior in those areas. It was a wonderful experience for the students to see all the work that goes in to keeping the city of Sheboygan a safe place for all of its citizens while treating everyone with respect. This mirrors Cooper Elementary School, where students and staff are Respectful, Responsible and Safe!
