Longtime Volunteer Recognized as 'Special Friend of Wilson'
Monday, September 30, Wilson Elementary School presented their "Friend of Wilson" award. The award is presented annually to a volunteer who has helped students at Wilson  and displays the school’s motto “4>2”  through their actions. The school motto illustrates that its greater to do something for others, than to others. Principal, Chad Renzelmann, presented the award to Mr. Burt Schuldt. Mr. Schuldt is a four year veteran of the United States Air Force and is a member of VFW Post 9156. For the past 11 years Mr. Schuldt has taught the fourth grade students in Mrs. Dawn Streets' classroom proper etiquette and procedure for raising the American Flag.  Following the training, the students take over the job of raising the flag before school each morning.

Mr. Schuldt accepted the award during an assembly of students and staff. Accompanying him to the ceremony was his wife of 57 years.

Following the ceremony, Mr. Schuldt posed for a picture, along with Mrs. Streets students, around the flagpole.
