Wilson Kindergarten Students Learn at the Apple Orchard
Four kindergarten classes from Wilson Elementary School visited Whispering Orchard in October. The students learned firsthand about the process of gathering and processing apples and cider for the market. Miss Sue, owner/operator demonstrated the hand operated apple press. Each child had a chance to turn the crank and enjoy a sample of fresh apple juice. In addition to learning about apples and their uses, students also played in the hay barns, saw farm animals and sampled apples and cider. The highlight of the day was seeing orchard workers using large machinery to pick and sort apples by size.
