North High School Hmong Leadership Council
The Hmong Leadership Council is powerfully influencing our community's perception of Hmong culture. As three groups of Hmong Leadership Council members prepared presentations to two thousand Sheboygan Area School District students at twelve schools on Nov. 25th, a fourth group collaborated with South High's Hmong Student Organization in preparing the art for this year's Hmong New Year (held at North High Nov. 29-Dec. 1). The main mural, entitled "Peaceful Migrations," involved the participation of sixty students over a two-month period while requiring nearly a hundred bottles of tempera paint. The mural was inspired by the Hmong Leadership Council's collaboration with world-famous street artist Gaia at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center.
