Jackson Elementary School Hosts Cultural Fair
Jackson Elementary School held their annual Cultural Fair on April 24. Many students, friends, and family members enjoyed an evening celebrating various cultures. Cultural displays from countries around the world were featured, with most of them made by third grade students at Jackson School. Children received a passport and got a stamp from cultural displays that they visited. Entertainment was provided by the International Dancers of South High, (Spanish and Hmong) Xai Lee Qeej, (Hmong musical instruments) by students from North, Urban, and Horace Mann Schools, the Schuhplattlers, (German music and dance) and Jim Melis and his Button Box Music. Food was available for purchase from Judi’s Place, Bourbon Street, Sparky’s, Conseco’s Mexican food and bakery, and eggrolls provided by North High.
It was an educational and fun evening enjoyed by all!
