The Sheboygan South Band Boosters are sponsoring a classic swing era big band dance on Saturday, April 14, 2018, in the Sheboygan South High School Commons. SPRING SWING ’18 is a semi-formal dance that will begin at 7:00 p.m. with live music provided by the talents of the Sheboygan South High School Jazz Ensembles and the regionally renown big band, Lighthouse. A variety of swing and jazz music will be played non-stop until 11:00 p.m. with lots of room to kick up and swing. Or if you just want to watch and listen, plenty of seating will be available. This is the 11th year Sheboygan South has offered this event to the community.
South Band Director Wade Heinen stated, “There are just not that many social functions where people of all ages can dress-up and enjoy dancing anymore. Since we have first started this dance, over 2,000 students and community members have come together to enjoy this one true American art form!”
If you wish to fine tune your dancing feet, complimentary dance lessons will be given on Tuesday, April 10 from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. and prior to the dance from 6:30-7:00 p.m. in the commons of Sheboygan South High School for anyone that has a Spring Swing dance ticket. Lessons are provided by the expert staff of Jessica’s School of Dance who will get you swingin’ with the best of them.
Dance tickets are currently on sale at Du Bois Formal Wear, and the Sheboygan South High School Main Office and Activities Office. Ticket prices are $15 for adults ($20 at the door) and $10 for students. Tickets will also be available at both dance lessons.
It’s important to note that this dance is not a fundraiser. Thanks to the very generous donations of Spring Swing’s business supporters, Du Bois Formal Wear and Jessica’s School of Dance, the cost of the tickets will cover the cost of putting on this wonderful community event! Please join us for a swingin’ good time!
South High School is located at 1240 Washington in Sheboygan. For more information, email Mr. Heinen at wheinen@sasd.net.
