North and South High School Drama Departments are pleased to announce the upcoming Musical production of Legally Blonde. The musical will be performed at South High School on November 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12 at 7:00 PM. There will also be a 2:00 PM Sunday Matinee on November 6th. Tickets are available on http://sheboygandrama.seatyourself.biz. Tickets are for reserved seating in advance and general admission the night of the performance. The cost of tickets is $10. Any questions regarding tickets should be directed to Mariya Grabow at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The musical is based on the popular 2001 movie about Elle Woods and her transformation from underestimated sorority girl, to serious Harvard lawyer. Her savvy and understanding of people serves her in unraveling the facts of the murder trial of popular fitness guru, Brooke Windam. Only when she implements her knowledge of “hair perm science”, does the seemingly impossible case turn in favor of the defense and win for Elle, the respect she seeks and deserves.
The cast of 55 members is led by Senior Mimi Viglietti and Freshman Mackenzie Ross in the lead role of Elle. The play is directed by South High Director Mariya Grabow and North High Director Jay Johnson. Set design and production is by Jon Becker and Mark Smies. The Choreography is by Jessica Mueller. Musical direction is by Karen Christopherson.
Along with the large cast, there is a full pit orchestra under the direction of Ann Mullenbach. Like the actors, the musicians have been rehearsing for weeks. Students value the challenge of working together with students from their cross town rival. Mr. Johnson says that “one of the many positive aspects of the musical is that students from North and South work together to create a piece of art and set aside any school rivalry”. Unlike some high school productions, North and South use student musicians instead of hiring professionals. We strive to provide as many students as we can with an authentic experience, said Johnson.
Tickets are now on sale and patrons shouldn’t wait, especially if they want to reserve their favorite seat. Any questions call Jay Johnson at North High, 920.803.7670.
