Below is the communication sent to parents on Tuesday, December 13 regarding an article in the Sheboygan Press.
You may have read an article in the Sheboygan Press regarding an adult in our community who made non-specific threats about school violence.
The Sheboygan Area School District’s number one priority is providing a safe environment for education. We have proactive plans in place to respond to various incidents that may threaten student safety and we regularly review and update our safety plans.
Although the likelihood of a violent incident happening at one of our schools is small, it’s our responsibility to make sure that our students and staff are given the tools to react appropriately. As you are aware from a letter sent home to you in October, our schools are participating in on-going safety training in partnership with our local police department.
Our community members are an essential element in our efforts to keep Sheboygan safe. In this case, a community member stepped forward with an anonymous tip to local law enforcement who acted quickly to investigate this situation. We appreciate the proactive efforts by the Sheboygan Police Department.
Thank you for your partnership in our safety efforts.

It's also important to note that our recently approved referendum includes an estimated $3.4 million for safety and security upgrades to many SASD schools.
