North High School Art Teacher Frank Juarez is spearheading a collaborative art project connecting schools across the state of Wisconsin. The project includes elementary students of Jen Dahl in Black River Falls, middle school students of Brian Sommersberger in Random Lake, high school students of Frank Juarez in Sheboygan and college art students of Tom Uebehlerr at UW-Sheboygan.
The project began with kindergarten students interpreting what germs look like using collage techniques. The mixed media works were then sent to Sheboygan North High School for advanced art students to re-interpret the 2-dimensional artwork into 3-dimentional clay forms. Next, 7th grade students in Random Lake will choose color for the forms. Finally, college art students will present the glaze fired ceramic works in a gallery setting at UM-Milwaukee Union Art Gallery in February.
