Science Olympiad is a competition where students can participate against teams from other high schools. The teams consist of 15 members who compete in groups of 2-3 in 28 events. The events change every year. Teams that do well in state competition go on to national competition. Most students will be in two, three, or four events. The events are a mixture of the sciences such as chemistry, physics, earth science, biology, physiology, ecology, mathematics plus technology, materials, construction, and computers. Some events require construction before the competition, some require intense knowledge of the subject, some require great lab skills. All require problem solving and following directions.
