On Friday, March 5, parents, relatives, friends, and Pigeon River
Elementary School staff were invited to attend the school's annual Wax
Museum, which ran from 12:30-1:00 p.m.
In the weeks leading up to
the wax museum, third grade students studied biographies of famous
people and practices so they could ‘become the person' they researched.
Some of the famous people chosen this year were David Beckham, Helen
Keller, Anne Frank, Henry Ford, LeBron James, Betsy Ross, Sasha Cohen,
and Laura Ingals Wilder.
During the project, students learned to
summarize and determine main ideas while reading about their famous
person. They also completed a chronological timeline of their person and
memorized the information so they could present the important aspects
of their character.
During the wax museum, students dressed up as
their famous person and shared important facts about that person's life.
When an adult pushed a colored button worn by each student, the student
gave his/her oral presentation. The presentations were approximately
7-10 sentences long and each child presented his/her information as many
times as his/her button was pushed.
