Family Literacy Program

Welcome to the Family Literacy Program!

  • Do you want to finish high school or need job skills?
  • Do you need to learn English?
  • Do you have a child under 8 years of age?

Family Literacy can help you!

Sheboygan Area Family Literacy offers families the opportunity to learn together. While you study, your children can learn too, so bring them with you! The Family Literacy program model integrates four components:  Adult Education (GED, ELL), Early Childhood Education, Parenting Education, and Home Visiting (Parents as Teachers Curriculum).

To be eligible to participate in the Family Literacy Program, a family must demonstrate an educational and economic need, and have young children in the home (under the age of 8 years old). The parent may be in need of completing a high school equivalency diploma or in need of learning basic English skills in order to move into another educational program or to sharpen skills needed to improve employment opportunities. To truly make positive changes as a family, parents/children are encouraged and expected to participate in all four program components.

When families learn together, education becomes a value that is passed from one generation to the next.
