Social Work Services

School social workers are the link between home, school and community. They are members of the educational team comprised of teachers, administrators, pupil services staff and parents. School social workers promote and support student's academic and social success by providing specialized services such as:

  • Individual and group counseling
  • Support groups for students and parents
  • Crisis intervention
  • Home visits
  • Social/developmental assessments
  • Parent education
  • Information and referral
  • Collaboration with teachers, administrators and pupil services staff
  • Collaboration with community agencies and organizations

A school social worker may be consulted when there is difficulty contacting a parent about a student's needs, suspicions that a child may be the victim of child abuse or neglect or when a student has poor school attendance.
