Volunteer at Heritage School!
Last year, 1,349 public and private students spent a half day experiencing school life in 1877. In order for more students to continue to learn about Sheboygan's past, we are looking for additional volunteers.
Volunteer docents greet each class with a short tour of the Heritage School Museum. They explain the school's history as well as the life and times of early Sheboygan residents.
Volunteer teachers then take the class into the Heritage School Classroom for a morning of lessons that include reading, arithmetic, and penmanship.
Many of our current volunteers are retired teachers and administrators. Others have a deep love of our local history and want to share their excitement for Sheboygan's past with each visiting class.
The Sheboygan Area School District has carefully prepared procedures and background materials for volunteers to use. Training and assistance is also provided to make each volunteer's experience a rewarding one.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer teacher or docent, please contact the Superintendent's Office at 459-3512.
