The mission of Pigeon River Elementary School is to ensure success for all children learning a challenging curriculum while working in partnership with families. The school learning community has a safe, respectful and responsible learning atmosphere, where all school settings have expectations that reinforce a positive learning culture.
Pigeon River provides comprehensive programming in core academics with art, music and physical education. The staff at Pigeon River continually strives to meet the needs of the 21st Century learner. Skills empowered at Pigeon River include critical thinking, communication, creativity, collaboration and community. Technology in the form of interactive SMARTBoards, iPods and iPads are integrated to support these skills.
The majority of teachers at Pigeon River Elementary School have earned a Master’s degree or higher. Like the students of Pigeon River, the teachers are on-going learners, participating in professional education courses and professional learning communities to bring their subjects to life and to assist students who need help in both their academic and nonacademic lives.
The Pigeon River campus is a National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat. Students can learn in the fresh air in the school’s outdoor classroom, take a hike through the woods or discover nature in one of the large garden areas. Students can join the school’s ‘Green Gang,’ an environmental club that focuses on sustaining our earth. Club members also help to maintain the school gardens. Other after school activities include Student Council, Photography club and Spanish club.
Pigeon River Elementary School is conveniently located next door the Pigeon River Rec Center that offers before and after school child care.
