Ramos Crowned Conference Champ

Story by: Lauren Pfile

Senior McKena Ramos, has seen it all when it comes to sports.

He is currently finishing his senior year in cross country without losing a meet after being crowned Fox Valley Conference champion earlier in the month.

He has made many achievements, including going to State in all three of his sports last year; cross country, swimming, and track. This was the first time in the school’s history for that achievement.

With all the hype involving the Redwing Way this year, he has a lot of pressure to keep doing great things for this school.

One person who helps him along the way and is also his idol, is his mother.
“My mom is my idol, hands down, because she goes to every meet, she doesn’t miss one. She is always encouraging me to make big goals. She always supports me, no matter what,” Ramos said.

Ramos has been participating in sports since he was little, with his mom putting him into swim lessons at the age of four. Ever since then, he has made many great things happen. Since he is one of the top athletes, he has received numerous opportunities for scholarship consideration.

His goals for college are to go to Madison for track, running the 1600 meter, and also hopefully making it to the Olympics. If he doesn’t make it, he wants to be an athletic trainer.

Ramos has accomplished a lot in his races, but one of the best recognitions would have to be the Cross Country Sheboygan Champion for two years running, with a time of 16 minutes and 11 seconds.

His goals go much farther than just holding a title. He wants to earn first team All-State in Cross Country, top twelve at the State competition, go to state for swimming, and hopefully get top five at State for track, which means he would end up on the podium.
“I believe that with hard work, I think I can reach all of my goals,” stated Ramos.
