Bullying students has shown to have devastating effects on those who are the repeated targets of bullies. One of the lead stories that are currently in the national news is the suicide of the teenage girl who was the target of bullies in her school.
Urban Middle School has decided to take a proactive approach to address bullying by implementing an anti-bully curriculum. Urban's VCR (Value, Courage, Respect) committee recently challenged the Urban students to design anti-bully posters. Students had the option of working as individuals or in groups. At the end of the contest, the VCR committee chose one winner from each grade level. Each winning plus period received a breakfast.
Posters needed to include the four anti-bully rules:
As LEADERS, we will
Help anyone who is being bullied
Be kind and respectful to each other
Inform someone if bullying occurs
Include anyone who is left out
