SASD Students Featured in MOVband Video
A handful of SASD students are the stars of an online advertisement for MOVband, a wristwatch-style pedometer designed to get kids moving. The video was filmed right here in Sheboygan including shots at Farnsworth Middle School.  Josh Roenitz, producer of the video and one of the founders of MOVband, worked with a former North High classmate, Charles Renzelmann, who was the Assistant Principal at Farnsworth Middle School to coordinate production of the film.  The film crew transformed parts of the city and Farnsworth Middle School into a production studio.  All of the children in the film are current SASD students.

The ad follows an average American kid who misses the bus and is suddenly empowered to traverse his hometown on foot (think "Ferris Bueller's Day Off").  Although he arrives late for a pop quiz, he is ultimately "rewarded" for clocking the required 10,000 steps with recognition of his achievement from his teacher and friends.

Recently, the MOVband video entitled "MOVband - Overcoming Childhood Obesity" was accepted as part of the TED Global Conference's annual Ads Worth Spreading contest, along with well-know companies like Nike and Target.  Ads Worth Spreading is TED's initiative to recognize and reward innovation, ingenuity and intelligence in advertising.  Childhood obesity has become an epidemic in America and MOVband aims to get kids moving.

MOVband is currently working with Charles Renzelmann, Principal at Wilson Elementary to bring the MOVband Challenge to Wilson in the spring.
