Wilson Students Collect Pop Tops that Equal Donations
Collecting aluminum pop tops for childhood cancer is an annual service
project for Wilson Elementary School students. Each month, kindergarten
through fifth grade students bring pop tops to dump into the collection
barrel. During teacher records day on Friday, Jan 25, four students
came to school on their day off to help load the pop tops and take them
to the recycling center where they are weighed. Pound for pound,
matching funds are provided through the generosity of the manager at
Sheboygan Scrap Metals.
Hundreds of dollars have been donated over the years to Camp One Step At A Time, a camp for children with cancer that serves the tri-state area. The collection this semester totaled $44.75.
