Urban Construction Updates
Wondering what is happening at Urban Middle School? Here's an overview of the construction underway.

Safety during construction is a top priority for the Sheboygan Area School District, Urban Middle School, and every worker on site. Because construction is taking place while students and staff are in the building, additional safety measures are in place to help ensure students can learn in a safe and secure environment each day.
Construction crews receive student safety reminders at the start of every workday. Temporary walls block access to construction areas, and safety fencing surrounds the perimeter of the work sites.

All indoor construction work was completed to build the needed temporary classroom spaces for this school year. Our teachers and support staff have done an amazing job getting these spaces ready for learning!

Students and teachers make the best of temporary spaces, like this classroom in part of the old gym.

Outdoor demolition on the north and west sides of the building is slated for completion by mid-September.
Work begins on the three-story new addition to the north side of the building. This addition will contain core classrooms for each grade level. This is a high priority to complete because the goal is to move students into this space next school year. You can see the staircase enclosure in the video below.
