Joseph Phillips

Welcome to Vocal Music at Sheboygan North High School! My name is Joe Phillips, and I have been teaching at Sheboygan North High School since the 2018-19 School Year, where I teach Northern Lights, Concert Choir, Mixed/Treble Choir, and Piano Lab.

Originally from Fond du Lac, I went to school at UW-Eau Claire and received my Bachelor's Degree in Choral and General Music Education with a Dual Emphasis in Voice and Piano in the Spring of 2014. From Fall of 2014 to Spring 2018, I taught Vocal Music Grades 7-12 in the School District of Black River Falls.

My favorite part of teaching is when students are inspired to love music and work hard at it through their connections with the music, the passion I teach with, and/or because they value the teacher-student relationship we have. Ultimately, I want students to realize their full potential and enjoy their school music experiences so they become lifelong musicians, either as a profession or as a recreational activity.

Outside of teaching choir, I enjoy adjudicating for WSMA Solo and Ensemble Festivals and the Wisconsin High School Forensics Association, participating in theater productions, bowling, watching the Packers, and spending time with family, friends, and my cat, Aries.
