2026 Retirement Recognition

2026 Retirement Recognition

This year’s retirement recognition in the Sheboygan Area School District carried an especially meaningful touch, as retiring staff members were once again honored with handcrafted mugs created by students from North and South High Schools.

While each mug is unique in design, the purpose behind the gift remains the same: to celebrate the lasting impact SASD retirees have made on generations of students, colleagues, and families throughout their years of service.

The mugs were created by art students under the direction of teachers Brian Sommersberger and Kevin Bazan at South High School and Dannielle Arneson at North High School. Students hand-painted each ceramic mug using pottery glaze before firing them in a kiln and adding a gold SASD logo as a finishing touch.

The personalized keepsakes serve as a small token of appreciation for the dedication, care, and commitment retirees have shown throughout their careers. Each mug reflects not only student creativity but also the gratitude of a district community recognizing the difference these staff members have made.

“This gift is a meaningful way to honor the incredible contributions of our retirees,” said Jami Hintz, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. “Their impact on students and our schools will continue long after their retirement.”

This year, SASD celebrates 45 retirees representing a combined 955 years of service to the district. Retiring staff members were recognized and presented with their gifts during the May 26 Board of Education meeting.
