Wilson Students Kick "Butts"
Wilson Elementary School first grade students in Jean Babisch's classroom recently had a visit from Mary Schueller, oncology nurse specialist and educator at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. The students celebrated "Kick Butts Day" and learned about the dangers of tobacco and observed vivid examples of what the lungs look like for a person who uses tobacco products.
Schueller told the students that tobacco use is the number one cause of preventable death in the United States, killing more than 400,000 people and costing $96 billion in health care bills each year. While the nation has made significant progress in reducing youth smoking, 20 percent of high school students still smoke.
