Cleveland Lions Club Donates Badger

At a recent all school assembly program the students at Cleveland Elementary School and the N.E.W. Montessori School were presented with a mounted badger. Steve Simons, a member of the Cleveland Lions Club, found the badger dead on the side of the road. Simons contacted the DNR to get approval to have the animal mounted with the intent of donating it to the two schools. After the approval was granted by the DNR, the Cleveland Lions Club agreed to fund the cost of having the badger preserved since it would be a great learning tool for all of the students.

The badger is still awaiting a custom made enclosure that is in the process of being constructed and donated by Jim Evraets of Evraert's Construction of Cleveland. The enclosure will be decorated with a nature scene.
