Wilson Students Celebrate Hmong New Year
On Wednesday, November 24, K-3 students in the Wilson Elementary School ELL program took part in the school's first annual Hmong New Year Celebration. During the week prior to the celebration, students read the book "Dia's Story Cloth," which is written by Dia Cha. Students then made their own story cloths and then held a parade through the school dressed in traditional Hmong clothing or hats that they had made.
After the parade, students played traditional games and enjoyed a lunch prepared by the ELL staff. The ELL staff members dressed in Hmong clothing that they purchased from Laos and China with the help of coworker Samantha Vang.
