Jackson and A2 Schools Focus on Generosity
For the month of December Jackson Elementary and A2 Charter schools' character trait of the month was that of generosity. At the Top of the Line assembly held earlier in the month, second grade students assisted their teachers in displaying the letters in GENEROSITY one at a time as the teachers read the book, The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.
Both schools chose specific activities/projects to help show their generosity. The Student Council sponsored a "toiletry" drive that will allow students, staff and families to donate toilet paper, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, dish soap, etc. for families in need at their schools. The public could also donate these types of items by dropping them off at the school office.
The schools also "adopted" several families and individuals from their own school community for Christmas. Other Jackson families and staff had the opportunity to participate by purchasing gifts for these families. The teachers also told their students that giving of their time to help someone out is also being generous.
