North FCCLA Students Qualify for Nationals
More than 500 Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) members recently competed at the State Star Events Competition, which was held at Wisconsin Dells during the FCCLA State Leadership Conference.
Sheboygan North students earned the highest scores and top medals in the state for five of the star events. Two of the top scores and medals were received in events that also compete on the national level, with two North students qualifying to compete at the National Star Events Competition in Anaheim, CA from July 10-14. The two National Qualifiers are: Kyle Mares in Hospitality, Tourism and Recreation, and Chong Lee, in Nutrition and Wellness. Other North FCCLA members who earned the highest scores given at the State level were Justin Siburt, Senior Food Garnishing and Presentation; Bee Lee, Occupational Food Garnishing and Presentation; and David Callahan, Advanced Food Production and Management Exam. Other gold medal winners were Mai Soua Chang, Occupational Pastries and Baked Goods and Ally Xiong, Senior Pastries and Baked Goods.
North FCCLA members earning Silver Medals were Derek Klockow and Hunter Lewis, Culinary Arts; Pa Kou Vang, Fashion Design; and Pang Dao Vang, Recycle and Redesign.
