Jefferson 3rd Graders Learn Fire Safety
On September 19, the Sheboygan Fire Department did a Fire Safety presentation for the 3rd grade students at Jefferson Elementary. The students learned about the importance of having a working smoke detector, stop, drop, and roll techniques, and the need for an exit plan and meeting place. The firemen did a demonstration and then showed a video of fires that occurred in the city of Sheboygan. The causes of the fires included fireworks, water heaters, hot charcoal, matches, space heaters, smoking, and cooking. The students received pencils, stickers, and a fire safety booklet, and they were encouraged to complete fire safety assessment at home with their families.
