North High School to Present ‘A Modern Girl Tragedy’
Those who control the past control the future. Those who manipulate the present, change the future. Is it possible to manipulate and control another person’s future? Through manipulation, deceit, and lies the complex characters of A Modern Girl Tragedy will captivate audiences as each new secret unravels.

A Modern Girl Tragedy is an original play, written by North High School’s very own Mr. Jay Johnson and will be presented on March 7 and 8. It is a modern American tragedy, with problems that directly affect the lives of the present-day teenager.

The cast of 16 actors has had the challenge of developing believable characters that are unique, honest and engaging. The cast is led by veteran actresses Logan Gerbitz as the antagonist, Lina and Molly Knoedler as the protagonist, Natalie. Other cast members include: Morgan Ross, Megan Wood, Sophia Intavaia, Ellie Clarke, Eulalia Carriveau, Payton O’Connor, Grace Ratzlaff, Tanner Moenning, Chad Matha, Abe Opie, Quentim Garbe, Liz Johnson, Jon Hollister, and Hilary Mayer.

The play is directed by Jay Johnson with technical direction by Willie Torrison, Mark Smies, and Zach Torrison. Student direction was provided by Jon Hollister, Liz Johnson, Anna Mancl and  Hilary Mayer. The student Stage Manager is Shannan Smies.

Normally stage crew is the primary source for publicity and has a hand in set design and costumes, but play production class is working hand-in-hand with the director and stage crew in order to produce ideas for set design, costumes, publicity, and even a video trailer.  

The show starts at 7:00 p.m. on March 7 and 8 with a matinee performance on Saturday, March 8 at 2:00 p.m.. Tickets can be purchased directly from Jay Johnson at 803-7670 or There are only 100 seats for each performance. Don’t miss out on the world premier.
