House Construction

Each year, students from North and South High Schools design, build, and sell a home. Students do as much of the work as possible under the direction of our program advisor and alongside our project partners. Students from each high school spend about two class periods on the job site during the school day.

The Sheboygan Area School District began its house construction program in 1998, and since then, hundreds of students have participated in authentic, real-world, hands-on learning as they build a house from the ground up.

Proceeds from the home sale go toward scholarships, tools and equipment, and the purchase of land for future construction projects.

The house design is selected each spring from the plans drawn by students enrolled in the Project Lead the Way Civil Engineering and Architecture class.
