Letters are mailed at the end of July to all applicants who were pre-approved by the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) for free meals. School age student(s) listed on the letter are not required to have an application on file. If a student's name(s) from your household is missing on the letter, please call Dawn at 459-3568; per DPI we can automatically approve your child for free meals because the approval is based on the entire household.
Parents will receive a letter indicating approval for free or reduced lunch status. All letters sent from this office notifying your household of free and reduced status should be kept. Please do not throw the letter away. These letters can be used as proof of eligibility for discounts on other programs/testing offered within the Sheboygan Area School District and Recreation Department.
The lunch program includes one hot lunch daily which is: entrée, fruit, vegetables & milk at all schools. The free/reduced program also includes the breakfast program. Check with your school to find out if a breakfast program is available.
The lunch application information is confidential and will not be shared with other programs without your approval.
Lunch applications are located at all schools, on the SASD website at www.sheboygan.k12.wi.us or call the School Nutrition office at 920-459-3568. If your family is not approved for free lunches due to household income being too high, you could be approved for reduced priced meals. Reduced priced meals cost 40¢ daily for lunch, or 30¢ for breakfast (where available). If you send a cold lunch with your child, the cost of milk is 40¢. The Sheboygan Area School District does not offer a free/reduced priced milk program.
Please take advantage of the free/reduced lunch & breakfast programs that the Sheboygan Area School District offers. If you have any questions regarding the free/reduced program, please call Dawn Schutte at 459-3568.
