Calendar Released for 2024-2025 School Year

Dear SASD Families,
At the December Board of Education meeting, the school board approved the 2024-2025 school calendar - eliminating the weekly early release Wednesday schedule, which is used for staff professional development. Instead, this time will be replaced with monthly full-day recesses (no school) for students, which will allow for professional development for staff. These additional days are listed as Professional Development Days - No School, as shown on the 2024-2025 calendar linked on our website at: https://www.sheboygan.k12.wi.us/calendar
Over 70% of parents surveyed in November were in support of making this change.
The calendar also eliminates the need for emergency make-up snow days. The first snow day of the year to be a day off for students, and any subsequent snow days will be virtual learning days that do not need to be made up.
This new schedule will drastically reduce the time some students currently spend on and waiting for school buses on Wednesdays.

Will SASD have school on Wednesdays next year? Yes
SASD will continue to have school on Wednesdays. Starting next school year, the school schedules will be the same times, Monday - Friday, with no early release on Wednesday.

Will SASD remain in compliance with the required amount of educational time? Yes
Yes, when the switch in the calendar is made, SASD schools will continue to remain in compliance with the state-mandated hours of education time.
When will the schedule change begin? September 2024
The new schedule will begin next school year in September 2024.
When will virtual snow days begin? 2024-2025 School Year
Starting in the 2024-2025 school year, the first snow day will NOT be made up. All subsequent days will be virtual. More information will be released next school year.
