Dear Sheboygan Area School District families,

I am excited to welcome you all to the 2023-2024 school year! It will be wonderful to have our students back in school buildings, ready to engage in classroom learning, sports, clubs, and all of the other activities our district offers. As you may know, this will be my final year as Superintendent. I will be retiring after 32 years of working in education. I look forward to working with Jake Konrath, our Assistant Superintendent of Student & Instructional Services, as he transitions into his new role as Superintendent.

We recently wrapped up a very successful summer school program, with over 2,500 students participating in over 6,500 classes supported by 250 staff members. This is our highest participation yet and we are proud to be able to offer continued learning and fun throughout the summer. Thank you to all who participated!

We are proud of the many unique opportunities students have in our school district. In today’s education landscape, I recognize there are options available as to where students can learn. I want to thank you for choosing to be part of the Sheboygan Area School District. We are committed to making this school district a place that is valued and recognized by families, students, and the community for its quality educational and recreational programming.

We are pleased to announce that all students can receive breakfast and lunch at no charge for the upcoming school year because the Sheboygan Area School District qualifies for the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs for the 2023-2024 school year. This means that your child(ren) will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to pay a fee or submit a free/reduced meal application.

Lastly, I would like to extend a warm welcome to over 110 new staff members joining our district this fall! And, we are still hiring. If you, or anyone you know, is interested in part-time work on school days only, our KidStop Before and After School Care Program is hiring child care staff at elementary schools throughout the district. Call the Recreation Department at (920) 459-3773 to apply.

We also have full-time openings for a few teachers, educational assistants, nutritional services staff, and custodians. Take a look at our open positions and consider joining our team! All available positions are posted on our Careers page at https://www.sheboygan.k12.wi.us/careers.

Please watch your email for our monthly newsletter which provides information from the district and also highlights stories from our schools. I also encourage you to follow the Sheboygan Area School District on your favorite social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn so you can stay connected to all of the great things happening.

We are looking forward to a great school year!

Sincerely,

Seth A. Harvatine
