Cleveland PTO

Our PTO works hand in hand with many other Cleveland organizations to bring about strength in our community focused on enhancing educational opportunities for our children. General membership meetings are held once per month throughout the school year. Please join us! We have so much to offer our kids and are always looking for new ideas.

Walk to School Day – The school staff plans this great family morning activity, and the PTO provides a healthy continental breakfast at the school.

Holiday Shop – A committee hosts a shop each December selling items for under $5. Students have the opportunity to purchase gifts for family members. Santa’s helpers volunteer to help the kids shop and wrap/tag their gifts. Students can make crafts and play games while waiting for their turn to shop.

Box Tops – We collect Box Tops for Education throughout the school year. Money raised goes to support PTO programming. If the school reaches the goal for the year, the students get a prize incentive.

Family Fun Night – Typically held in April, families are invited to participate in activities sponsored by the PTO. In the past, themes have included carnival games, bowling night out, and similar activities. The best part is that the whole family is welcome to participate at little or no cost.

Yearbook – The committee collects pictures from the school events and assemblies throughout the year. Then they design and print the yearbook for student distribution at the end of the year.

Staff Appreciation/Secretary’s Day – This committee treats the staff to food, raffles, and other tokens of appreciation for all they do, typically the first week of May.

Cleveland Presents – This committee works with school staff to gather art work for display in the gym. The PTO coordinates gift baskets with unique themes to be raffled off at this event. Also, a talent show organized to provide the entertainment, featuring acts by 3rd through 5th grade students.

Family Movie Night – The PTO holds a family movie night each January at the school. Beverages and snacks are sold during the event, and it’s a great family night.

Halloween Carnival – The PTO sets up a great carnival for families on a Friday night in October. In the past, activities have included pumpkin bowling, costume contests, cake walk, photo booth, and other carnival games.

Book Fair – During Cleveland Presents, the PTO organizes a book fair, offering families a chance to purchase great books for their students. Committee members coordinate book arrival, set up the displays, and manage sales/purchases.

Holiday Gift Tree – The PTO sets up a tree of teacher wish-list items. It is put up for the Holiday Shop, and remains up through Winter Sing. Families can take a gift idea off the tree to purchase as a holiday gift for their teachers.

Room Parents – The PTO recruits 2-3 parents per classroom to act as room parents, or head volunteers, for that grade. Room parent tasks are assigned by teachers and PTO. Room parents are welcome to ask other families in the grade for assistance in tasks such as preparing raffle baskets for Cleveland Presents, providing snacks for teachers, etc.

End of the Year Party – This committee works with the principal to organize a fun event for the last day of school. Often snacks, such as popsicles, are also provided.

Fundraising – This committee comes up with creative ways to raise funds to support PTO programming.

Other programs that the PTO supports:

  • School field trips
  • Speakers and special assemblies
  • Lunch for teachers during parent-teacher conferences
  • Classroom money for each teacher to purchase needed items for their classroom
  • College scholarships
  • Student council support

We’d love for you to become a part of our PTO! Everyone is welcome. Membership is $5 per family, and can be paid at the school when you register your child in summer.
