In the four-year-old Kindergarten program, each child is viewed as a unique person with an individual pattern of growth and development. Levels of ability and individual interests are used to design appropriate activities for children. The establishment of close ties between families and the program is a major goal. The ELC has 2 team taught classrooms each consisting of 1 regular 4K classroom teacher, 1 special education teacher, 1 regular education educational assistant and 1 special education educational assistant. The curriculum is a regular 4K curriculum with special education staff providing support so students may enter kindergarten in the least restrictive environment. Typically developing children and children with special needs are integrated and work together throughout each day.
