James Madison Elementary School had a very special guest today. Sheboygan native, and former James Madison student, Todd Zimmermann read his seventh and newest book, Oliver Doodle Dandy, to students during a special assembly.
The book is a celebration of America and teaches children that what unites us is far greater than what divides us. Relating to the patriotic theme of the story, students created cards for members of the military and also surprised Mr. Zimmerman by singing Yankee Doodle Dandy at the start of the assembly.
Mr. Zimmermann has been invited to read his latest book at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library on July 4th.
Oliver Doodle Dandy is a spin-off of his award-winning Oliver the Ornament Christmas series. Mr. Zimmermann visited James Madison in 2019 to read students the first book in the series.
