Welcome from our Principal

Welcome to James Madison Elementary School

“Strive For Excellence”

James Madison Elementary School is a caring, family-friendly school. Madison school believes each and every child deserves a world-class education. We welcome families and students as active participants in their child’s education. We strive to work cooperatively as partners to cultivate students on the path to their full potential.

James Madison teachers utilize cooperative teamwork to facilitate a school environment where the focus is on children, their development, and their total learning. Teachers at Madison are passionate about children and teaching. Our teachers love to learn. As a result, they inspire a lifelong love of learning for the children in our school.

We serve approximately 375 children in KG through 5th grade. All of our students and staff participate in our Eagle Expectations through Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) program. Weekly we learn how to be Safe, Respectful, and Responsible, along with rewarding each other when this is displayed.

Our school provides a strong standards-based curriculum that includes reading, math, science, language arts, and social studies. Specialists teach music, art, physical education, and guidance. We utilize technology to support the curriculum and student learning. This provides students the opportunity to be creative with their learning and to individualize their learning. Students in 3rd - 5th grade are assigned a device to use throughout the school year and our KG - 2nd students are 2:1.

At James Madison, we want our students, staff, and families to Strive For Excellence. For our Madison community to Strive For Excellence we need everyone to do their P.A.R.T by working towards these four Core Values:

Perseverance - keep trying and never give up.

Acceptance - appreciating the uniqueness in others by respecting that we all have special characteristics.

Responsibility - doing all that you can to follow the Eagle Expectations.

Teamwork - coming together to work as one.

If you are a new family to the Sheboygan area or are interested in school choice, I invite you to visit James Madison at any time. As Principal at James Madison, it is my pleasure to meet with you.

Sincerely,

Charity Cartland, Principal
