On the November 5 ballot, the Sheboygan Area School District will ask the community to invest $121 million to rebuild and remodel Urban and Farnsworth Middle Schools on their current sites. Both schools are approaching 100 years old and have similar, significant challenges.
Aging Infrastructure - Both buildings are approaching 100 years old with systems that have exceeded their life expectancy.
Safety & Security - This plan would increase safety and security and improve bus and parent drop-off and pick-up.
Inadequate Classrooms & Support Areas - Expanded classroom sizes with more natural light will provide enhanced student learning spaces and educational opportunities.
If a majority of voters support the referendum, the property tax mill rate would increase by $0.20 per $1,000 of property value. That would be a $20 annual increase per $100,000 of property value.
Community members interested in learning more about the proposed projects are invited to attend an Community Informational Session:
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with a presentation. Following the presentation, representatives from the Sheboygan Area School District and Bray Architects will answer any questions. Tours of the building will be offered to anyone interested.
