New! Virtual Learning Days

November 19, 2024

Dear SASD Families,

Starting this school year, the Sheboygan Area School District will change how we handle snow days or other weather-related school closures.

The first snow day of the school year will continue to be traditional. Every student deserves to experience the joy of an unexpected winter snow day! This snow day is built into our school district calendar and does not need to be made up.

After that, any additional snow days will be Virtual Learning Days. On Virtual Learning Days, our school buildings will be closed, and students will learn remotely from home.

  • Early Learning Center and Elementary Schools: Students will receive a take-home packet to use at home on a virtual snow day.
  • Middle and High Schools: Students will engage in live, virtual instruction with their teachers following the school’s regular bell schedule.

Parents can also expect an email from their child’s school on virtual snow days with additional details.

Families will be notified by phone, email, and/or text message when SASD determines that schools will be closed due to inclement weather. School closures are also posted on the Sheboygan Area School District website at www.sheboygan.k12.wi.us and on the SASD Facebook and Instagram pages.

On days with questionable weather conditions when school remains in session, we understand that parents may choose to keep their children home if they do not feel safe traveling to school.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we implement this new plan to ensure uninterrupted learning while keeping everyone safe during inclement weather.

Sincerely,

Jake Konrath, PhD
Superintendent
