Thank You, Residents!

November 6, 2024

Thank you, SASD residents! Voters in the Sheboygan Area School District approved the question on the November 5, 2024 ballot, with the unofficial results showing that 65% of voters supported the referendum! This outcome underscores the community’s dedication to enhancing public education and supporting the needs of our students, teachers, and schools.

“We are extremely appreciative of our community’s strong support of our schools, reflected in the 65% approval of the referendum,” said Dr. Jacob Konrath, Superintendent of the Sheboygan Area School District. “Rebuilding and remodeling Urban and Farnsworth Middle Schools will provide modern learning spaces for future generations of SASD students designed for 21st Century Learning. We do not take our community’s support for granted, and we will continue our work with a strong dedication and commitment to ensuring the success of all students.”

The successful referendum follows five years of planning, including a facilities assessment, a community-wide survey, and numerous community input sessions. The District saved $14 million for these projects to reduce the amount asked from taxpayers.

The approval of the $121 million referendum adds $0.20 to the SASD mill rate per $1,000 of property value. Even with the $0.20 added referendum cost, the mill rate will decrease by 10.7% from last year. The Sheboygan Area School District tax levy will also decrease by 1% from last year.

The district will begin planning the implementation phase immediately, with project timelines and milestones to be communicated in the coming months. The anticipated completion for Farnsworth Middle School is the fall of 2027 and Urban Middle School in the fall of 2028.
