Welcome to Sheridan Elementary School Home to Sheboygan County’s Only Dual Language Program “Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe.” Sheridan Elementary School is committed to supporting students to become culturally aware, well-rounded, bilingual, and biliterate citizens. At Sheridan all students are considered potential bilinguals. We are fortunate to work with families who bring a rich variety of backgrounds and experiences to a creative, innovative, and dedicated staff. Making connections to our families and students is a core belief of our school, because it encourages a sense of belonging in our learning community. The staff, students, and families that pass through our doors carry on a legacy of working together with all to provide a welcoming school environment and exceptional educational experience that fosters a love of learning in all of our students. The students at Sheridan are our purpose. Our staff members work together to meet needs of all learners through differentiated instruction, quality assessment for learning, and consistent implementation of curriculum which ensures all students grow and succeed. At Sheridan, our students are taught core subjects in English and Spanish. We implement best practices for a dual language program, which gives value to the languages and enhances the experiences of our bilingual learners. We also provide students with multicultural activities integrated into our curriculum and experiences within our assemblies, events, and activities which strengthens our learning community. Sheridan Elementary has an ongoing commitment to the Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) program. This program has three core expectations: “Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe.” PBIS systems emphasize the positive by recognizing students for following the expectations in our school. Students are rewarded through PAWs tickets which are drawn for prizes weekly, individual awards, classroom incentives, and school-wide celebrations. We gather together as a school monthly to celebrate our school community and recognize our achievements with an assembly that is held completely in Spanish. Sheridan is proud to be award-winning for our PBIS systems. We have received the School of Merit Award, School of Distinction Award, and Silver Level of Recognition for our PBIS Program. Our successes allow us to provide behavioral supports in a variety of ways to meet our students’ varied needs.
